Hi folks. I'm in need of some help with IDing some critters on aquaculted rock and I was wondering if anyone with experience could help. I'm especially wondering about these anemones I've found - some people say to kill and remove them, but I want more opinions. I'm even being told to remove the feather duster tube worms I've found. I was also trying to ID some macro algae species to decide whether or not to keep them in the main tank.

I put his thread in the regular reef discussions forum, so let me just direct you there. Pictures and discussion can be found there:

I'm going to tag along as I have a bunch of feather duster worms as well. I wasn't aware that they might not be desirable. How would you go about getting them out, anyway? Also in this photo, what is the thing sprouting in the upper left? Bad? And I was surprised to see this rock open it's mouth. What is it? I have four of these guys that originally looked like part of a rock, but occasionally open up and say "ahhh".

That thing on the upper left looks just like the anemones I'm talking about. Look closely through the photos I have posted in the linked thread above. You'll see a couple of shots of the anemone close up. Is it the same one? If so, that's the one some people are saying to get rid of.

Anyone who knows a lot about these critters and has the time to looks at these photos, please try to give a look and see if you know what these are. I dont want to get rid of these unless I have to. I've found 5 or 6 of them at this point.

I have two of these as well. Sort of like the way they look. Are they good or bad. Nows the time to say goodbye if they are no good.

The other is a Jewel Box Clam I believe.
Are these desirable? Do I need to do anything special for them? I have at least 4 of these guys, compeletely disguised as rock until they open themselves up.

I think that they are fine. I seem to remember Richard saying that they are long lived. I have three or four, from quarter size to 4in diameter. They don't seem to do much and they are better than rock to look at. My snails clean them off to a smooth black on top. Always ask Richard to be sure though.
