Bought this coral yesterday from the bargain bin at my lfs. Was sold as a kenya tree but I think it might be a colt?

Looks to be Capnella or Kenya Tree just a green form. Alcyonium (Colt) and Sinularia are slick or slimy to the touch, Capnella and Lemnalia are coarse more like sand paper.

Fish junction, Kenya trees look nothing like that coral. Up until a few months ago I had a Huge Kenya tree and had to get rid of it to make space for several of my LPS :D

I have sold and fragged thousands of green and brown Capnella that look the same as the coral in question. As I have stated above it is a simple test. Touch it, if is slick it is sinularia if it is rough it is Capnella. Also after you touch it do the polyps completely retract, if so it is Sinularia if they do not fully retract Capnella.

"kenya tree" is a catch-all term people (irresponsibly, if you ask me) use TODAY for a wide variety of soft corals. I've seen it wrongly used to describe cladiella, nepthea, lemnalia, klyxum, etc Much as you're doing here.

Back in the day, kenya tree meant capnella sp only.

I'm going with sinularia for the OP's picture tho.
