I am attaching a photo of a pest and asking for help with controlling its presence. I know where I got this pest but have not perceived much trouble with it till now. It has one main patch and several satellite patches in the aquarium.
It is likely I will have to remove the shown coral. I have had luck with a tooth brush but little luck with kalk or joe's juice. I have tentatively identified the animal as a hydroid. It appears to grow in brightly lit areas with high flow rates.
I have read reports of peppermint shrimp eating this pest but it is mostly anecdotal, as species of hydroid is never fully identified, except the universal digitoid reference.
Anyones experience in controlling this pest would be appreaciated before I try 6 peppermint shrimps.
