Help with identification

I was the guy that sold you the hammer... I don't know if you got rid of the polyps or not, but I just wanted to chime in and say they are blue/green palys. I've had them growing for 2 years in my system. They looked a little brown and ugly under those hammers do to low light, but under higher light they turn green with a light blue ring. either way they are pretty inexpensive, so I wouldn't worry if you decided to discard them.

If you have other green polyps that came from reef system's live rock then they are probably the same thing... that's where mine came from 2 or 3 years ago. I started with 5 and now have a couple hundred on a single rock.

this is an older picture, but they grow together nicely.

IMO they are a "pest." get rid of them while you can. They are too invasive.

That being said ... I would never get GSP either, but some people love those.

I scraped them off the disk with a scalpel. Since then, a few have grown back. I still plan to separate the hammer from the current disk, but I haven't been able to decide where I will move my hammer. After I do this, whenever that is, I'm going to let the disk on my sand bed under light to see how they color up. If I like the color, I'll keep them. If I don't, eradicate them.:blown:
