Does anyone know of someone I can hire to fix a leak in a glass tank? Do to health issues it would be very hard for me to do this job.

someone posted a leak a few days ago, is this the same leak? make sure its not from any of the bulkheads. if you know for a fact its from a seam, i would get someone that is more familar with replacing silicone. personally i wouldnt take a chance, i would save up for another tank. but thats just me.

edit...guess it was you that had the problem.

If the tank has a plastic rim on the top and bottom and you are certain the seal on the bottom is leaking, drain it, trim the silicone out with a razor blade and reapply a heavy bead along the leaky seam. Are the side seams sound and not full of bubbles? Glass aquariums hardly ever blow out at the seams, the glass breaks first.

If you don't get every bit of silicone off your tank will be destined to fail.Silicone will NOT stick to silicone,It is imperitive that you dont have a film left after you scrape it.Use alcohol to clean the glass edges.,
I had an 80Gal that did blow out at the seam,Woke up with an inch of saltwater on my living room floor.
HTH and Good luck
Personaly I would,nt trust a resealed tank.
I tink bajabums tank blew a seam also.

I disassembled my 30 and put back together w/clear instead of black. Near impossible to get trim off though. All is good. Good point about CLEAN glass before silicone application.

Just be careful.I would put it outside and run it for a few weeks after I'd sealed it ,Just to be safe.Better to water the lawn then the inside of your house.120gals is a lot of wieght,And pressure on the tank.

i would get rid of the tank. i know it can be fixed, but think once there is a problem like that it's shot. my friend had a 180 re siliconed, and had a major leak, 180 gallons of water in the front room wasnt a pretty thing. just my 2 cents, and thats probly not worth a penny...RK

Well I have the tank drained to about 1 1/2" deep. I do not see any leaks now. So would the seams leak under this little of water pressure? If not I would think this would tell me that the seams nor the bottom bulkheads are leaking.
