So I got a led light from eternalreef there 120W 55 led pushing 2 watts each so I have it over my 29 cube at 9 inches above the tank which gives me 20 in to the bottom. I'm only running the whites for 4 hours and the blues for 8 hours day as to not burn and shock any of the corals. is this a good practice to do and slowly add time after a week? The lights are not dimmable. Do they make a in line dimmer I could add. What advice do you have I've never had leds before. Thanks

Since you can't dim them, there are 3 things you could do to ease the transition.

1 - raise the fixture and slowly lower to the final position

2 - do what you're currently doing, which is shortening the photoperiod and slowly increasing.

3 - use something to diffuse the light in top of the aquarium. Layers of window screen material can be placed on the tank and slowly remove te layers.

Watch your stuff. If it looks like it's getting roasted, slow down and back the light off for a while, then try again.

Another good shade cover would be egg crate. It really cuts the light. From there it's really easy to add other shade like screen or paper.

Egg crate that's a good idea I have some handy I'll try that and what I'm doing already ty for the advice
