Help with my Nitrate

Have the same problem.
200 gallon tank and i do about 50% water change every month there is only 1 fish in the tank.

fish is Yellow fin blue cod but its about 9-10 inch and is feed every 2 days with fresh haddock.
i have low amount of Lr and live sand.
tank is overflowing with fire worms and tiny Invertebrates.

No3 is about 150.
PH is 8,2
Salinity is 1,026
Temp is 28-27°c day and night

My Heteractis magnifica is slowly dieing its now white :C
it still takes food but returns it after a few hour's
Mushrooms and polyps are Growing @ lighting speed and multiplying.
Fish has started to act veird.trying to get out of the tank.i dont blame him..

I have a Tunze DOC Skimmer 9011 rated for 1100lt tank.
Sump has Bio Balls and fine filter that i change 1ns a week.
Lighting is 2x 250w Mh and 2 80w t5

I am thinking should i add more LS and LR?
I tried Multiple tests and all say the same.
I use tap water and it measure's Zero No3.
I live in Iceland so my tap water is Pretty good.

Plz need respond fast.
Dont think my Anemone will survive but i want my fish to live..

il post 2 picture of the tank to give you idea of how much LR and LS i have also how my anemone used to look like when i got her.

Im currently just doing flakes and brine shrimp cubes

Are they eating all of it within five minutes? If not, you're over feeding.

Beyond that though, what's your export mechanism for nitrates? Just water changes? Chaeto or other macro algae? Do you get a drop immediately after a water change? If not, have you tested your water source?

You have a visible film on your water's surface. You need a surface skimmer and more circulation and surface aggitation to break it up and get it down where your protein skimmer can remove it.
How old are your bulbs?
What is your water change volume and schedule?
With proper husbandry you can bring that anemone back.

that film is gone.
I just got a 30w UV lamp and algae is going away.
Return is AM Ocean runner 6500.
3 powerheads in tank Mp 1200 conected to a AM wave maker.
Bulb's that came with the light are old but i have new Bulb's i am just w8ting to get the correct Socket for the new ones.
Skimmer is in tank and its seems to be skimming rly wet:C
I always have to adjust him every other day.
There is no space in te sup for the skimmer.
I need a new sump.

I change out about 20% water every other week.
As im typing this i am about to change out 70%.

Starting to regret buying this skimmer..

Also is it normal to have this many fireworms.
They are in hundreds
They seam to eat the algae.

would you suggest i remove the Anemone to the store into the tank it was in while i get my tank water fixed?

Try pointing at least one powerhead so the surface of your water is gently rolling, this will improve gas exchange/aeration.
The new bulbs will make a huge difference where your anemone is concerned.
I did a search but could not find a lot of info on yellow fin blue cod but I'm guessing if yours is 9-10 inches they get really big and consume a lot of food and produce a lot of waste. May not be the best choice for a reef tank?
If haddock is its only food its nutritional needs are probably not being met.
If you keep the cod I would try to vary its diet as much as possible. Add shrimp, squid etc.

Adding a GFO reactor will also help bring down your nitrates as would adding more cured live rock. (GFO = granular ferric oxide)

Are you sure you have fireworms and not just bristleworms?
If you pick up a bristleworm with your bare hand it will string a little bit. If you pick up a fireworm with your bare hand (not recommended) it can inflict severe pain that can last for days.
Bristleworms are beneficial detritivores as are fireworms but bristleworms are much more desireable for obvious reasons.
Hope this helps.

No pain from the worms but the hair sticks into the skin, some of the Worms are up to 15cm :S
That fish is maxing out @ 90cm in the Ocean
I will get bigger home for him in the future atm this is plenty space for him.
I chose grouper over trigger so i could keep invertebrates such as Hermits and Snails.he is also compatible with Cleaner wrasses and skunk shrim as long as he gets his food.
Thin line tho.

output of the returns are turned upwards so the surface is getting quite the move.

Although i think it might be phosphate that is cousing the problem?

And the fish gets shrimps tho i haven't been able to get my hands on squid.

Should i take the Anemone back to the store into the tank it was in while
i Fix the water?.

What is a good Reactor for say 200 gallon tank?

Sounds like common bristleworms (good thing to have).
The GFO will bring done your phosphates.
The new biopellets are designed to bring down both nitrates and phosphates but I have read mixed reviews on them. They do seem to work best when both nitrates and phosphates are high, so they may work well for you.
For best results these should be used in a media reactor.

If it is going to be a while before you get your lighting corrected that might be best. It looks like it is suffering from insufficient light as well as high nitrate/phosphate.
If you are doing a 70% WC now and you can get your lighting corrected the move (and the inherent risks) might not be needed?
You will need to make that call.

Not sure when the sockets arrive but it shouldn't be long.
22 days since i bought em.

im thinking about buying i reactor but if i do it takes minimum 3 weeks to arrive.
I was reading a tread witch some 1 used Vodka to lower No3???
