Help with my Zoa's

I have a few different Zoa's in my 55 gallon tank. I am running a 4 bulb T5 HO lighting system, a refugium with no skimmer, I was changing 15-20 gallons of water once a month and topping off with my well water. I just changed the top off to RO water. I also dose twice a week with part A & B Reef Replenish. My question is that I cannot get my Zoa's to open and would like to know if anyone on here has had this issue and what they did to get them to open up?

Have you done a dip of any kind?I'd start with a dip of Lugol's solution and flatworm-exit.
If that doesn't help then I'd try Furan-2.That might be zoa pox you have.I'm not sure though.

First I'd get some Lugols Iodine and do the coral dip that is recommended on the bottle.
Move them to a higher flow area. Not sharp direct flow.
Have you looked for any sign of nudibranchs or sundial snails?

People are having good success with a product called ReVive, made by Two Little Fishes.


bandsaw mentions zoa pox, if when you get more flow or do a dip with them, see if those spots come off. They just might be detritus sticking to the slimed over polyps.

Good Luck and don't wait. The longer you wait on something like this, the less chance anything will survive.

I did a Hydrogen Peroxide dip and rinse. Then I did a Iodine dip and rinse. The Zoa's do look alot cleaner today and hopefully will be alot happier and maybe open.

they also look like they're stretching for light; the one to the right with the fading/discoloring in the third picture looks like one of my zoas that stayed in under a cave for too long.
