Help with new 125 gallon build

Got my MP40's and they really vibrate! Did you use the spacer? I didn't as it says not to for 3/4" glass. How about the foam pad? Where does that go?

Your glass is only about 3/8", not 3/4" so you do need to use the spacer. There is a mark on the spacer for 3/8" thick glass. The foam or rubber pad is also needed between the glass and the dry unit to dampen the noise.

Ok Simon, i will make the adjustment on the MP40's, thank you. Now I noticed this which is something you mentioned could happen early in this thread when i was building my sump. The wall on the bubble trap gave way to the water and became unglued!

I'm going to try and see if I can cut a thin piece of acrylic to jam between this wall and the other wall on the fuge side so it can stay in place and silicone it again. The adventures of this build just continue!

I'm also planning out now my saltwater mixing station and starting to layout my dry rock for aquascaping, more pics to come soon..

Tassod, I know it is frustrating sometimes when things don't go as expected but it is part of the learning process and I hope you still are enjoying the build. I know at the end, all the frustration will be worth it when you have a beautiful reef tank going.

Yes i am enjoying this build indeed despite the setbacks. As you said, its part of the learning process and I can't tell you how much i've learned so far! Thank you very much for the encouraging words!

As great as the ecotech vortechs are, I have some Tunze 6100s in my tank that have been in operation for more than 7 years now and they are still going strong! Definitely a testament to their reliability and stability. No need to replace wet sides, although the vortechs are great if you go that way. However you will probably have to spend a little more time maintaining them to keep them running in top form.

I'm working on getting my saltwater mixing station setup and I will post pics, but while i'm doing that, have a few questions on my next steps. Once i'm done deciding on my aquascape, I will start to have the rock cure in some heated saltwater. What do i need to do to setup my refugium? Do i put a sandbed in there or just a piece of rock and what else do i need in there? Do i need to set up the refugium first before i start filling the tank to get my cycle started?

When I started to cycle my tank, I have everything put together: aquascape, sand, fuge, protein skimmer...etc in freshly made saltwater at operating temp. Once the cycle is complete, do a 50% water change and you can start putting a couple of hardy fish in the tank and begin adding clean up crews. You don't want to add new sand or rocks after the cycle is complete because new sand and rocks may start another mini cycle which you want to avoid.

What does your fuge consist of? What do you have in it?

You don't need to have lights on when cycling. I did with my DT because I love to look at my tank with lights on even with nothing in it. If you don't have chaeto in the fuge, no light.

Another question, for the pieces of live rock, did you use cured Live rock in the fuge or pieces of the same dry rock in the DT you purchased?

Got some pics on how I will be setting up my RO/DI and Saltwater station. Everything is still dry fitted and I welcome any crititque or suggestions. Got a tight space to work with so going side by side is my only option.

RO/DI is on the right / Salt on the left:

Insided saltwater container:

Union ball valve going towards the wall will be dedicated line that I will run to my sump for saltwater when i do water changes:

This is the hookup for the water source that will go to my RO/DI unit:

Tassod, good job with your mixing station. I wish I have space to do somthing like this. Mine is in the garage about 20 ft from the nearest tank.

The trick with a system like this is to make sure you have a fail safe procedure so you don't dump a whole barrel of RODI water into your sump before you realize you turn on the wrong valve(s). Since your tank is on the other side of the wall, you need a quick way to turn off the pump remotely from the tank side.

Yes, going to see if i can add a switched outlet on the DT side and have it plugged in there and I can turn it off by flicking the switch. Currently flushing my BRS RODI unit as it is the first time i'm using it. I have the 75 GPD unit and I added the 150 GPD upgrade kit to it. My pressure gauge on it is reading about 60 PSI of water pressure going in, that should be fine for this shouldn't it? I know their video mentions I should have 65 PSI when using the upgrade kit but I don't really want to spend an extra $140 for a booster pump.

Here's my final product on the mixing station, i got rock curing in one container with pump moving heeated saltwater for circulation.

Also added overflow protection on my RODI container which also has a float switch inside:

Also here is a proposed aquascape, comments and suggestions welcome:
