So because the flow is not high in the fuge this is happening?

Sodium carbonate or bicarbonate precipitates out pretty easily when reacts with calcium ion in saltwater. Also don't run calcium chloride and sodium carbonate into the sump at the same time. Stagger them to minimize the reaction. The high flow helps reduce the interaction.

Ok thanks Simon, should i just extend the tubes out to the return section?

Yes, if it has more flow or water movement.

Well to be honest, not much flow happening in the center return. The baffles do a good job of keeping this calm in there so there is not much water movement...i would say the fuge has more flow. This must be happening because both CA and ALK are being dosed almost at the same time...will have to change that.

Yes most certainly can...perhaps i can dose CA during the day and ALK during the night.

Well, sadly i'm reporting that my blue hippo tang passed away last night. Found her upright between 2 rocks where she usually sleeps, just never came out yesterday. I believe she was sick to beging with, never really acted proparly from the start, did not eat well from start either. Then started showing signs of some type of parasite, although could never really confirm what. In any case, this is my first real fish loss.

But happily would like to give an update on some new additions. Been trying to post but dont know whats been going on with RC site, been having the hardest time logging in. Anyhow, here are some pics:

Those are nice additions to your tank. Was that a Indonesian yellow tang? I see you are getting two nice size clams. Iodide will be needed as supplement for those.

Thanks Simon. The new tang is a powder brown. Regarding supplementation, besides the big 3 of CA, Alk and MA do you supplement anything else? Trace elements?

I dose 10ml of Iodine and trace elements a week.

I had a RBTA that split 3-4 times so I now have 4-5 in my tank.

None, I don't feed any coral specifically. I feed the fish only. The corals will have to get whatever is coming their way.:spin1:

I've been adding coral food once or twice a week (live food) and i've seen a difference, they love it. For the anemone, I've been told i should feed it silverslides or similar food once a week...
