Help with Nikon D5100 Extremely frustrated!

Hey guys, I got a nikon d5100 a while back and I think I got the hang of taking pictures for the most part but here is my problem. I want to shoot videos with my camera and when I go to upload them on the computer the file is in RAW and the colors are all wonky like I have to go in and edit the colors back to normal. I don't have editing software so when I take pictures I set the settings on the camera the best I can and that's that but I can play back the video on the camera and it looks just like it should and then on the computer the colors are grayed out and weird. Please help me with this. Are there some kind of videos settings I have to change? Why is my video shooting in RAW when I have the camera shooting in JPEG Normal? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hey Brittany.... Sounds like your color issues are due to improper selection of WB (white balance). There are a lot of variables as to what your settings should be and the mode you're shooting in. Unless you learn to shoot in manual mode you'll never have complete control over your images and a camera can't take adjust to every scenario we ask them to record.

As for your RAW video mode, I don't know enough about the Nikons to help you there. Below is a link that I found for Nikon settings. It includes your model too.

Sorry.... no reef photos yet. ;)

While that's nice, I still like the comp on the first one. I tend to like shots with a backround that tells a story without jumping out and taking away from the original subject. Both beautiful though.

LittleBee, an excellent forum for digital camera related questions is FredMiranda.com. (You'll see a pulldown for the Nikon forum.) I shoot Nikon, but I don't have a video-capable model, so I don't know how to solve your problem.

Good luck!
