Hi everyone, I need some help again I have a separate "Skimmer" box that is 12X12 that I will plumb to the 29 gal. Fuge. Does this plumbing set-up look like it will work> I have idea how to run plumbing so if you all could give me some direction I would greatly appreciate it.

What's going on on the right side? Are you pumping back to the main tank, but also back into the fuge? Why not just pump back to the main tank?

In case you have an oversized pump, you can shunt water back into the sump without creating a huge ammount of backpressure on the pump (as a partially closed valve would do). You can also turn the valve, and vacuum your tank without emptying the sump.

Setup:

I would flip-flop (mirror) it. Have the skimmer and tank dump into the middle chamber, put the 'fuge on the right so it's a nice gentle area, and put the pump into the bubble chamber on the left.

Also, if the purpose of the valve on the return line is what I said above, move it to the return line to the tank. Water takes the easiest route and that's straight - not turning 90 degrees. If you have it open on the return back to the 'fuge, it won't change anything.

Nice idea MayoBoy the only issue I see with your configuration would be the size of the opening in the 1st chamber (bubble) I will need to measure it and find out and figure out what the footprint for a Mag 9.5 is. I am not quite following you on the "Also, if the purpose of the valve on the return line is what I said above, move it to the return line to the tank. " Are you saying to have the Tee fitting in this spot but put the valve on the line returning to the tank not going into the middle chamber? Finally on the side where I have the pump now this baffle has egg crate on the top will this still be alright for the Fuge?

As long as it's over 3-1/4" wide, you'll be fine. (I have the same pump)

Regarding the tee, put the valve on the vertical side (the tank side). The water will naturally go in that direction and a valve on the horizontal (sump side) won't do anything.

As far as the egg crate, that will be perfect. It will keep the algae contained but still allow passive water exchange.

Sorry I'm not making more sense - I'm running on 4 hours a night of sleep, a sick little boy, and our busy season at work.

New design on the Sump plumbing.. The two returns from the skimmer box to the sump are 1" bulkheads that I will have draining into the bubble trap.
