Help with quarantine for the Halichoeres melanurus?

Hello there,
I am planning to purchase a Halichoeres melanurus and was wondering which quarantine procedure is best from those more experienced:
My quarantine tank is a 55 gallon tank with an Emperor filter.
1. Bare bottom tank with PVC for privacy
2. Silica sand in a Tupperware container (4x8)
3. Silica sand 3 inches deep all over

Question on the side:
Does this wrasse do better when kept at the LFS longer or shorter?

Thanks everyone for your time and thoughts!

I would go with just a tupperware container. It will definetly need the sand, but a full sand bed in a quarentine is a bit overkill.

As for LFS 'layover'; you want to go with either extreme. Either take it home in the bag it was shipped in, or with in 24-48 hours. Or wait until it has been settled in, become bold, is eating frozen/dry, and is plump (probably 3-6 weeks).

With any of the less expensive wrasse you tend to have a lot of shipping stress issues due to handling. The more expensive wrasse get better handling and care by the wholesaler.

iirc i QT'd my melanurus 3 weeks barebottom (but with a lot of lil PVC tubes that he would kinda wedge himself between)
