Hey guys so i was on craigslist today and managed to get a good a deal from an individual who no longer has interest in the hobby. The bad thing was his tank was not taken care of for the past few months and the corals are not the healthiest ive seen, but there not the worst either, well except for one. Im not quite sure what it is i thought it might be a open brain but i really dont know, it used to have fleshy meat according to the previous owner and he used to feed it small shrimp, when i got it it has no flesh and is all exoskeleton, i thought it was dead but when i got home i noticed that it had secreted coral juice! so anyway i acclimated it and dropped it in and after a few hours i decided to feed it a piece of shrimp and it is attempting to eat it!. My questions is what is it? And whats the best way to revive it?

Plate coral. Looks like one I have orange plate maybe. Pretty easy to keep if you ask me enjoy mysis and brine feedings. I would feed mine daily until it come back if it were me and mine enjoys the sand but also have another on a ledge. They say to watch them if not on the sand cause they can move.

Fungia and it looks pretty far gone. Put it in low light, low to moderate flow and make sure nothing is picking on it, eating the dead flesh. Unfortunately, while these are really easy to keep, once their that far gone, revival is fairly unlikely. Just give it the best conditions you can and hope for the best.

If the plate coral does die, don't toss it, the skeletons can sometimes produce baby plates!
