I just got an old skimmer and the pump is shot. I would like to get pump that is the same as the manufacturer had on it but don't know where to get it. So I am looking for help in where I can find one.
Check out this link to see pictures and drop me a line if you know anything about it.

I always wanted to try an sander skimmer, did you pay alot for it?

I actually got it for free. I am expanding my system so I bought another system off a guy and he threw in the skimmer free. The problem I am having is the pump is totally shot! The thing is really old And I cant figure anything out on it. I don't know much about Sander so I don't know how to get my hands on a new one. I tried to put a mag drive on it just to see how it would do but the fittings on the skimmer are metric and they don't match up. So I really would like to get the original now so I don't have to cut it up and guess what size pump to put on it. I emailed Sanders but I haven't gotten a reply yet.

If you know anything I would greatly appreciate it.

Pactrop, why not give it the Iwaki (or similar pump type) treatment? ... that thing should really fly with a strong pressure pump!

It is kinda hard to tell from the pictures but it isnt that easy.

the pvc is all done with unions even the threads to the pump is half a union. They are not the unions that my local hardware store carries either.

If I get the choice of just screwing a factory replacement on or buying another brand of pump, cutting off some pvc and pulling the McGiver. Then I will have to lean toward just getting a factory replacement. I am just crossing my fingers I get the choice.

maybe this will help

here's Sanders website (in english, mostly):

http://www.aqua-sander.de/produkte/index.en.html

your skimmer looks like a Sander that I have - but mine does not have the pump attachment at the bottom

looking at their current models, the datasheet for the "FreshSkim 200" states a water flow rate of 2.5 cubic meters/hr (top feed) and 6.5 cubic meters/hours for the FS300, which is a bottom feed like yours

hope that helps

I origianaly emailed them and never got a reply, so I called the Sander company in Germany and they said someone would call me back within two days (its been four now). They also gave me info on a company in California that sells them, Quality Marine.
So I called them and they said they would check out the pictures and get back to me. That was four days ago also.

So to answer your question, No. I will try again this week and see if my luck changes.
