Help with skimmer choice for 12g

We just got a 12g tank a few days ago. I want to add a skimmer to my tank but I don't want to take off the hood. If I put a HOB skimmer I won't be able to open the hood. I was thinking of the AquaC Nano Remora Skimmer and I was thinking of putting the pump it comes with inside the 2nd chamber and running a hose to the unit and then running a return hose to the 3rd chamber. Would I need another Maxi Jet 900 pump for the return? I already have about 12lbs of cured live rock and I understand that I probably don't need it. Should I go with something bigger? I don't mind it sitting behind the tank.

Here is the design of the tank. I never heard of the brand but many of our lfs carries this. I think it has one 15w pc and the other is a 15w actinic. It also has two LED moon lights and a fan. Junk thing is that the LEDs/Fan and the pc lights are on one power cord so if I put a timer on it it will shut off the fan and moonlight at night. I have no idea the pump gph as it didn't come with instructions. Outside the box had the info but I threw it away.

Will the coralline spread to the dead coral? What will it look like? It's illegal for us to have real coral.

The clam is still alive. Should I leave it?

You might want to look into Sapphire Aquatics about a nano skimmer.I have no idea on performance ,but it might fit in your back chambers. Also what is your location that you can't have real coral?

sapphire all the way. once they get dialed in they are really nice. quality construction, and UNBEATABLE customer service.

oh by the way..

is that all the lighting you are going to use???

I live in Hawaii and live coral is illegal. It's illegal to pick, have, import, etc. I'm trying to get a research license or something like that to have them. I'm pretty sure that live rock is also illegal except Molokai rock which cost $9 per lb and only one store carries it locally unless you order directly from that Molokai store.

I guess for now that light will be used. Can I change it to a brighter bulb using the same hood? I don't really want to modify the tank too much as it was only meant to practice water conditions.

That Sapphire skimmer looks great! I will measure when I get home to see if it will fit.

15 watt without photosynthetic life is fine, fish dont care if you have 15 watts or 30. If you're not growing algae or coral, your stock stuff should be fine. water quality matters much much more.

Looks like you have aptasia in picture 8. I'd get on that bugger asap if I were you.
