help with slimmer not encrusting

I have had my slimmer for a little over 2 months now and it has not once started to encrust. But it is loosing flesh really really slow starting at the base. When I say really slow it took a month and a half to loose 1 centimeter. Here are my levels in the tank

For flow I have a jabeo wp25 I turned it down to 50% flow as I thought it was getting to much flow

For lights I have a 250w metal halide. If there is anything else I'm missing please let me know. I can't figure it out all, I do have other sps and they are doing fine.

Do you know what type of light the slimer came from? have you acclimated it to your lights? most of my sps do not encrust and start getting burnt tips if I dont light acclimate them

The guy had leds for about a week I had it on the sand bed then moved it up to its spot now. It has grown quite a bit there is no burn Marks on the tips. It's just the base, I will try to take a pic of it tomorrow.

Dip it. Also do you test/supplement anything else? Maybe something is too high or low

I have a larger colony of the same coral. It tends to concentrate growth at tip and branching. My colony is one of those I set it on a rock and position it securely, it is not mounted to the reef, I can pull and frag at will. When I originally clipped it from it's base, it was only encrusted maybe on the rock in a circle about the size of a silver dollar. This is a 1 ft. by 6" and multi branch coral, and very thick. I gave up trying to remount it and just put it in a good spot, if it encrusts it does, if not owell.... If it seems secure let it go, if it gets top heavy, likely it will encrust to support it's weight, kinda just have to let it go...

I see two possible issues. Excess algae growth around the frag and vermetid snails, both can irritate sps to the point that it starts to recede.

I'm going to try and glue it to a rock where there is no algae and vermeted snails

I cut off the small piece that was dieing and remain glued the good part. Then I glued the other piece to see if it would make it.

I wouldn't worry too much. Green Slimers never seem to encrust very well, and even STN a bit below when the colony matures. Make sure the base has good flow, some light and is free of algae and aiptasia.
Also secure the main branch very well with epoxy. When the colony grows more and more weight will rest on that branch and because it doesn't encrust very well the whole colony can tip over at some point.

interesting everyone here experience with green skimmer is different than mine.
My frag I got has encrusted really well. Grown new branches out of the encrusted area..... And the original frag branch hasn't grown upwards much at all.
