Sweet no sand I love it!
WOW HOLY COW! Man that sand bed was nasty! I drained the tank down till it wouldn't drain anymore and started scooping out the sand bed with in one to two scoops the water went black!
Its not to late KM, there is always a bb system in your future. Yes I know I've said this before![]()
And I believe you found the issue right there.....

Looking back at the original post, nutrients from a dirty sand bed were not the problem, it looked more nutrient poor than nutrient rich, and your test results showed the same. Lots of light and hungry corals lead to pale and sickly corals. If the sand bed were causing issues, your nitrates would been measurable instead of zero. I hope the restart goes better and you feed the tank, it does make a difference.

Be sure and test the water for po4, Pukani has a long history of leaching phosphates out for a long time. Take a moment and read this thread, it will give you an idea of how much po4 can be trapped in that rock.

Pukani is beautiful rock, but unless you deal with the po4 you may end up right back in this thread wondering how to get rid of the hair algae. I would hate to see that, you have been through enough already.
NO G04, things need to do it naturally.. Another good reason to go with live rock , you don't have to wait for the curing process. This includes waiting for the p04 to be removed.
Honestly I'm starting to dislike dry rock these days, its seems like it looks great from the outside but you never know what it was seeded with. Been there.
Take your time Kissman, I thought you said you weren't going to run g04Can rush this stuff.
