I just saw this really neat starfish at my LFS and cannot find out anything about it. It is called a doublestar??? It is flesh colored and smooth and has the impression of a second star inthe center. I can't believe the LFS ordered it and cannot tell me if I buy it how or what to feed? Also, what does everyone have to say about a burgendy sea star? Are they hard to care for? HOw and what to feed?

Sounds like a sand sifting star to me... does it look like ethier of these?

If so, the star will sift through the sand (a lot of the time you won't even see it) searching for food. You need a well established DSB and a fairly large tank to keep one of these, or it will slowly starve. I had one in my 46 bow for quite some time, but it eventually died, probably due to starvation. They are great for keeping the sand stirred up, but like I said you need a DSB and a fairly large tank.

Just wondering (as I was trying to figure out a way to keep these in my tank at some point), what exactly DO these starfish eat? I mean, suppose I kept a steady stream of pods in the tank, would that be enough? Or should I just right them off now and use snails to move my sand around?

Here is a pic of the star.....I cannot post it, but it is in my gallery. Just click on my camera pic above my post.
