Help with Toadstool leather-

We have two Toadstool leathers, one normal sized (4-5" across) and one 'fancy' long-polyped Toadstool leather.

Anyways, we bought them about two weeks ago, and they were both open and fine for the first week. For the last week, they've both been closed and haven't opened at all. All other corals are doing fine, but for some reason, our toadstools aren't opening.

Paramters:

SG 1.024
NO3 5.0
PH 8.3
CA 380
DKH 9.0

I know its hard to determine exactly what is causing this, but does anyone have any experience with Toadstools? Or have any idea what could be causing this?

i have several and they usually close up for a few days and shed. it is natural just give them some time and they will open back up.

lighting: 6 bulb fixture, T-5, both leathers are placed about half way down into the tank.

Flow, I have two K-4's and a K-3 in the tank ( alot), although none of them are 'directly' pointed at the toadstools.

They've been closed for a week now. I know the conventional wisdom is that they close for a few days at a time, and they'll be fine. But a week worries me. I'm thinking something in the tank is sending out chemicals which is irritating them. It just doesn't make sense for them to be closed this long...

I have a toadstool and it was doing really well on the bottom of the tank so I moved it up to mid level and it did not do nearly as well, it hardly opened up for me so I moved it back down and it opened right back up like nothing happened. I am not sure if this is the case for you or not, but it worked for me.

Update: The normal sized Toadstool decided to extend polyps again. Total time without polyp extension, 7 days!

The fancy Toadstool is still closed, going on a week. It's got some greenish hue to some areas now, will keep everyone posted.

Lesson learned: Toadstools can be closed for more than a week at any given time, and that's perfectly normal.

my 2 cents your sg at 1.024 is low and your alk is high for your calcium level and you have no mention of your mag levels most people do not realize that many softies can be as touchy as sps

I've seen mine take up to a week to shed. It's weird but they do it at the same time sometimes. Another thing that could be happening is something nipping at thm. I had a blue fin damsel that kept at mine for several months. I couldnt figure out what was wrong until I caught him ripping into a bubble coral. After he was removed they've been out almost everyday.
