Help with upgrade tank Dimensions.

My 300g (72"Lx36"Wx27"H) is mounted 42" off the ground. At this height, a step stool and tongs are a necessity to do basic maintenance. If the tank were any taller, given the overall width, it would be a real challenge.

If you will not have equal access to the front and back, I would not go any higher than the 28" you mentioned.

BTW, I love having the tank mounted higher up. When people come over, no one has to hunch over to look in.

Don't mind the step stool and the tongs as long as I can still access the lower level of tank...
Can you reach the lower portion of the back glass or at least half of if for cleaning? My scape should be somehow similar to yours, do you need to clean much of the back glass anyway as most of it is hidden my the rocks?
Access from the back is a definit no as there is a weight baring wall behind it that can't be taken out...
We're still working out a way to get access from the sides, as well as a crazy idea to have all the canopy be pulled up into the upper cabinet by a pulley system... That way I might even get access to go in the tank...

my 225 is tall enough, I have to use tongs and such for spot feeding. If you want a tall tank get one. You will get used to taking off your shirt and diving in. I wouldn't trade mine if for anything. I am also about to start a 3.5 foot cylinder tank, so beat that.
