I have a wall hammer that has lost
about a inch of flesh. Looks like
everyday it losses a little more.
any advice?

You can try to trim it up a bit, I have had a little luck fragging wall hammers, just got to make a clean cut an maybe a dip afterwards

Vey very hard to reverse at this point. Some can do it, many cannot. Wall hammers come in damaged and it's an uphill battle from the start. You need to observe for about 6-8 weeks prior to purchasing IMO.

All you can do is cut it back then dip I would think in iodine and pray. Wall corals are very hard to keep and for this reason I'll never buy any. Only branching for me.

I do wish you luck in saving it.

My buddy here in town is a fragger and who I got mine from. He uses some elaborate saw that is used in cutting bone and corals, rocks etc. I'm also curious to find out how most cut the branches off.

I'm pretty sure you want to do an iodine dip after they are fragged before putting them back in the water.

With the wall I'd use a bandsaw maybe? Also search Youtube for videos on fragging especially wall corals.

I was always too afraid to try and frag mine. Until it got too big for my tank and I had no choice. One corner started receding from lack of light/flow.
I took it out and cut a few pieces off with a right angle grinder with a diamond blade on my garage floor. I did not dip it, I just rinsed it off in a bucket of tank water and put it back in the tank. Every piece healed up just fine (even the receding part).
A fast clean cut is way better than "bone crushers" imo. Just try to be quick.
Once it opens back up, try to feed it a little to help it heal.
Good luck

Yeah, a band saw with a diamond blade is your best bet.

You can also use a dremel with the diamond coated wheel and keep it wet like when drilling a glass tank. Or a tile cutting saw if you have one.

I wouldn't use bone cutters, risk crushing any healthy part and spreading infection.
