this must be the dumbest question on the fourms but i jst dnt seem to get the whole placement of the powers heads. eather i put them in one postion and plow every thing . or i put them another direction and i get a crust on the top of my tank. what should i do ?

If you have 2 of them, which I assume you do. Put the on each side aimed either towards each other in a V shape. If that blows everything everywhere then aim them up in a V shape. aiming them up will help get all that crud on top of ur water mixed up. its just proteins and stuff that builds up... not to mention the usual dust as well.

This is one of those thongs that you will need to judge individually, no one can really give you exact placement of PH because it is dependent on many things like sand bed or not, live rock, skimmer box, corals etc.
As a starting point you want to have the flow of the PH's cover the entire tank this is easier said than done but with patience and small movements left. right, up & down you should be able to find a happy medium that you like and most important that your corals enjoy.
Good luck
