Help with weird growth on favia

So this favia has been growing well and is now growing a weird lump that is soft and squishy to the touch. I tried cutting it with a razor blade and nothing really came out of it and it still looks the same a week later. I don't know what is causing it to grow like this but I would like to prevent this blob from growing any more. Any ideas? Should I just try cutting the whole thing off??

I do have vermatid snails in the tank that the coral is growing over. Do you think that they might be the cause? There are no other things near the coral that could sting it.

Looks like it's budding off. That section will eventually separate from the mother colony and become a frag you can attach to a different rock. Don't mess with it. Just leave it alone and let it do it's thing.

It doesnt really look like it has been stung since it still has quite a bit of color on it. I would think that it is budding off the colony. I would recommend just seeing what happens. if it begins to spread to the remainder of the colony cut it off.

Well I actually ended up cutting that part off since it has been that way for months and has not really changed at all. So after removing the tissue you could see where there was a hole area under where the weird growth was. It is almost like it grew a thin film of tissue over the hole in the rock. It looks like it is starting to heal from cutting it so that is good. It will be interesting to see if it tries to do that again once it starts growing again.
