Ok guys, my girlfreind works at an LFS and has been watching someones tank while they are on vacation, but she is not an expert in salt and neither am i, hence why i cannont answer this question... anyway the lady told her that a plate coral in the tank has not been looking good and maybe dyeing, but she cannot remember if the lady told her to take it out or not- the coral has died becuase it looks like one of those coral skeletons, but she is wondering what will happen if she does not take it out, anything? or will it be alright to leave in the tank even though it is dead?

Tell her to take it out. Honestly, if it were only the coral skeleton, it wouldn't make much of a difference, because the organic material would already be decomposing somewhere else in the tank. But a lot of times what happens with these dying LPS is that they retract a lot into the skeleton and you may not see all of the tissue, but it's buried deep in there, rotting. At any rate, if you are sure there's no saving it (and if it is just white bony skeleton that you see), there's no point in not taking it out.
