Purchased a used AC3 recently- I cannot get it to hook up to my home network. I have tried connecting the Ethernet cable to router ( then using the desktop), and then tried hooking it up directly to my laptop. Both attempts I get green and yellow lights. BUT, no luck finding the IP address of the AC3 in the browser ( both explorer or firefox) . I have attempted numerous IP's in the AC3 only changing the last trio of numbers in the address compared to my IPv4, I have a netgear Router - so no LinkSYS problem. Port is still default 80. I put the exact same gateway address and netmask numbers in the AC3 as my router/network found via : cmd/ipconfig/all - method. I have paused my Kapersky protection, and never use any windows firewall. The DHCP does not seems to work - I switch it on and then hit "restart" and - upplug power - but after pluggin back in the IP is unchanged. So, have the DHCP off. Help please......

THanks in advance

Ted

Chapter 2, Page 10 describes setting up the Ethernet connection.
Follow those instructions exactly, if you have changed the settings all over the place, you might want to start with initiating (erasing) the memory and starting from scratch.

I ran into problems initially because the Ethernet port on my Mac laptop was not correctly configured, but I think that probably does not apply to you. I was using a Mac running windows and had some fancy internet/Ethernet sharing set up.

If you can't find the manual, it is easily found on the internet.
Good luck,
Feel free to pm/contact me if you continue to have trouble.

The AC3 I believe defaults to 192.168.1.50. It is possible that something else on your network may already have that IP address. I changed mine to 192.168.1.55. If it doesn't initially appear trying adding 192.168.1.55:80. Make sure the control unit has the correct address as well.

Do you get corresponding link lights on the router? Did you try a different cable?

Please post the exact network settings of the AC3 and also of the router's LAN setup page (a screen shot would be perfect)

OK - Will try to post a screen shot when I get home from work tonight. I know posting a pic on R/C is a bit of a challenge - can you tell I am not super computer literate- hence the problems I am having. Did not try a different cable- but I did get both green and yellow lights on the AC3. When plugging directly into Router I did not look to see if the router "saw" the hookup - hmm... will check that also.

Wow can't remember how to do a screen shot...been to long .. Anyhow - have several IP addresses - when doing the IP config on my laptop 1) wireless LAN adapter wireless network connection IPv4 and 2) Ethernet adapter local area connection IPv4 address. They are different. which do I use?

it should be neither... it should be whatever ip address you have the aquacontroller set to. You need to assign a unique ip address to the controller under the net setup menu. The important addresses are the gateway, netmask, and primary dns. the proper command under command prompt is "ipconfig /all." this will list everything you need. My guess is it will be 192.168.1.1 and 255.255.255.0.

Ok, here's what to do...

Your local network uses the 192.168.0.x subnet... the address range on your notebook's wireless interface. Ignore that 169.254.x.x address you saw.

Connect the AC3 to the router. Using the menu in the AC3, enter the following:

IP Address: 192.168.0.50
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS Server: 192.168.0.1
Http port: 80

Restart the AC3 by unplugging its power supply and plugging back in after a few seconds.

Open a browser, and enter http:/192.168.0.50.

OK will try tonight when I get home from work- 9:30 Pm - long day. Thank you. Does it matter if I try to use the laptop or desktop? Also I assume on the third trio of numbers 0 = 000 as you have to put all three zeros in the AC3.

OK got home for lunch and tried with the AC3 plugged into the D-link router then used the desktop to try to connect. Set the AC3 with the following: Gateway= 192.168.000.100, DNS= 192.168.000.100, port= 80, IP address= 192.168.000.050 - it wont let me use 192.168.000.50 - the last three numbers go from 000- 299 only. Browser failed to connect- the window says "connection was reset".

Gateway and DNS should be entered with leading zeros as needed (192.168.000.001) in the AC3. The .050 for the IP address is good.

no change = Problem loading page - connection was reset..........

How about "admin password" problem - but then if it was locked I would not be able to change the IP addresses, etc right....

Well I brought it to work and its address/gateway/etc. are different. BUT, I did re-program the AC3 based on what you taught me Russ. Guess what- it tried to hook up , but it said the address requires a ID and a password. So, maybe we are getting somewhere. I will attempt to re-program the AC3 for ID= host and a password. OR do you think my work network is what is asking for the password and ID?
