I am starting a 29 gallon reef tank and I do not want to over stock. Is it OK if I put a blackcap gramma. 2 clowns. And maybe like 2 damsels? And can I maybe even add one more?
It's not all about the filtration. You also have to deal with space and territorial issues. Two damsels and two clowns (which are also damsels) will likely clash in a tank that size. Crowding too many fish into your tank can also lead to fighting and stress that can cause health issues.
Not the clowns. If you want clowns for the sake of having them pair up (like most everyone does) then they would need to be the only fish in the tank. Damsels aren't a good choice since they are aggressive and only get worse with size.
