Help. My new banded cat shark I got yesterday is on the sand bed and is breathing very lightly. I've nugged him slightly but no sign of movement. What's wrong? and if he's dead what can I do in order to prevent this when I buy a replacement?

So let me get this straight. You have an 80 gal ish tank that has tangs, trigger and a black banded cat shark? The cat shark will get to over 3' and has a tank requirement of at least 360 gal. The tangs depending on what kind as well as the trigger also need a much larger tank than that. You have a recipe for a major problems.

That still doesn't address the tangs and trigger. Heck your damsels once mature are more than likely going to be very aggressive in that small of a tank. They are better in a 100 gal or larger.

Telling the guy his tank is small for the future growth of the shark doesn't really help the problem at hand..

That said, a shark is an expert level type pet -- it is something you should either have professional help/consultations available with or previous long term experience.

Asking the beginner forum why your expert level animal is having issues is a problem all in itself =)

There is a forum specifically for aggressive fish - I would go there for help as you are more likely to find someone with the specific experience you need.
