Help!

I went to the CORA frag swap today. Got some good stuff. And got a few fish. I got a mandarin goby. I think it has ick. What do i do? I don't have a QT. And i literally blew every last penny i have to spend at the swap until next Friday. I could get my hands on a small QT tank fairly easily. But i wouldnt be able to feed the thing. Because all my pods are in the DT. I have 3 other fish. Two clowns and a hippo tang. What do i do?

Has it been near sand? Mandys have a slime coat second only to the hagfish, and it often gets sand grains stuck to it when it's been stressed. People mistake this for ich. If it does not look like a with pimple raised on the skin, it's probably just gunk stuck to the fish. Your photo looks like a sand grain to me.

I literally read earlier today that mandarins are a "roll the dice" kind of fish. They apparently don't do well in QT, so you're just supposed to toss them in and pray.

I have one. Never put a mandarin in quarantine. Hiw much micro fauna you have in your tank? Do you have Natura caves in your tank?

Can a mandarin go with a lawnmower blenny in a 55 gallon? I have a pod problem and I thought about getting one but I know blenny and gobys don't mix well

Mandarins are dragonets not gobies. That size tank is marginal for sustaining a dragonet.

In addition to what the others have said You need to get rid of the Hippo Tang. They require a tank at least triple the size of yours. They get to about a foot or more in length.

If it's tiny, then you might be able to keep it for a few years before re-homing it, just plan on doing so unless you decide to greatly upgrade your tank.

Nobody I've talked to would suggest a dragonet in a 55 gallon, unless you have a huge refugium to support the pods necessary to feed a dragonet constantly. Supplemental feeding would have to be done multiple times daily. I wouldn't do it.

My tank is loaded with micro fauna. Lots of caves and porous rock. Nice big fuge. And now that i have him I'm going to start a pod breeding system separate from the current system.

Just as a note---there's no problem with blennies and gobies kept together unless the tank is too small. In a 50 gallon, no problem.

Just take it slow adding fish. Get your pod breeding system going so you know the mandarin can survive.
One thing at a time works best in this hobby.

Sure. But some are notorious for jumping. Is the mandarin a bad one?

All fish can and do jump as others have said. If your tank doesn't have a canopy, building a DIY screen top is the way to go. No glass tops, they don't allow sufficient gas exchange and block par from your lights.
