So I have a piece for a stand, it is cast iron. Its going to fall apart. I'm planning to make a new one but what to do with all the stuff while I move the tank? I'm going to store the fish and coral in a big bucket with a heater and skimmer, and the rock in another bucket. The question is I want to drill my rock so I can put some acrylic rods through it. Should I save as much water in separate buckets so I can reuse it and put my rock, fish, and coral in newly mixed saltwater and then just throw it away after I’m done. I think drilling and moving the rock around will cause excess build up and then I will be in trouble. Does this sound right? I have seen a lot of post on stand and I think I know what I want to build, but what paint should I use for Wood? I would be thankful for any help.

I would save as much as you can, and mix up as much as you can. You can use it to rinse your rock off with after drilling, and before you put it back into your tank after the move. I would put the fish and coral in original tank water and do small water changes during the move if it takes more than a day or two.

Thanks for the advice. I hope it will not take more then a day. I'm going to build the stand tomorrow and then do the move on monday I think. I'm so scare I have to do all new plumbing as well, this is going to take a while.
