Ok, Its time to ask for help.

I have made some changes to the tank, flow wise. My baby maxima bit the dust the other day. I dont really know why. All my water parameters test good.

amm- 0
nitrate < 5ppm
nitrite - 0
ph- 8.2
ca-400
alk- 9.8dkh
temp - 78-80, usually steady at 79, but heat and chill are set to 78-80.
last water change was last week 5 gallon, and did a 5 gallon the week before.
I feed phyto every 2-3 days

My maxima was next to my crocea and the crocea is great, the derasa that is having problems is on the far side of the tank (usually minimal flow).

The derasa has been in my tank for almost a year and has grown steadily. It now does not open up. It did open up a little today but the mouth was not fully expanded. The mantle was also not fully expanded.

Last night in an attempt to help out. I removed the crocea and derasa (one at a time) and in a container with tank water, proceeded to remove a ton of pyramid snails from the crocea (I mean a TON) and a few from the derasa, I did pull 4-5 small bristle worms off the the bottom of the derasa.

What else can I do, please help. I have become very attached to the derasa and would hate to loose it. I should have been more careful with my maxima.

Thanks,
Pete

u need to wait about a half hour after lights out and remove ur clams like u did and remove the pyrams every other nite for the next month. even if u dont find any one nite u still need to do this the next nite and also look for egg sacks on the clam and remove them also after a month of this u can just check them every week but u still need to do this for 4 or 5 month
