one of my yellow reidi about 3in disapeared i tore the rock out and found him still alive but he had part of his tale had been eaten so he can not latch onto anything no other damage to him will he make the night???

Can you post a picture?

What temp are you keeping the seahorse at?

Do you have a 10g tank and access to any meds? I would move the seahorse now and drop the temp down to 68F. Make sure there is some aration.

A pic is going to help a lot to move forward from here.

It was a new pair just wondering if I put in a new female if the male will take to her. They were in the tank for few weeks together.

well she had wondered behind the rock work im guessing some crabs got ahold of her tail and just went to town. Since that night I redid the rock work.

Don't you think it would be a good idea to remove the crab so this doesn't happen again?
Any tank mate that causes this kind of serious injury really should be removed immediately for the safety of your seahorses.

 You would think wouldn't you.

Since it was the whole tail and not just a single wound IME it is more likely to be a bacterial infection then a wound. If a crab gets a seahorse usually it's a single wound, not a massacre covering the tail. I saw a sally light get one of my horses, the horses reaction was violent and it was away pretty fast. Hard for me to see the seahorse sitting there while something ate at it.

I would still remove the crabs and wait at least six to 12 weeks to introduce another seahorse.

Seahorse pair up pretty easily.
