I was told the Heniochus was reef safe. I just read that they are not. I now have one and need to know if I should fish him out? Thanks, Tina

My Bannerfish has caused no problems, but I suspect that it's a matter of individual fish, and how hungry they are.

Which bannerfish, H. Diphreutes is supposed to be reef safe and H. Acuminatus is not, the first is supposed to be a planktivore.

I cant tell the difference, Ive been trying. I was told it is a Diphreutes, but the way its eyeing my stuff, not so sure. Ive compared pic, but they are so much alike. Here is the best pic I could get, fast little bugger. Tina

Found out (thanks Gobie) that mine is most likely the H. Acuminatus. It has the longer snout, longer anal fin. So back to the store he goes. Tina

I don't know, that looks just like my H. diphreutes.

He pics all day but no harm done great fish, I'd keep that one.

Here's mine

I guess he gets one reprieve.... the fish store is closed today. I will watch him tonight, closely. They are so hard to tell apart. I can see him pick at the acropora, not often. He picks around the cabbage leather, cant tell if he is picking on it or not. I made one mistake, in getting a bicolor angel. He was fine for months, then all of a sudden he demolished a huge devils hand leather I had. He started from the back, so I didnt notice until it was too late. I just dont want this to happen again. Tina

The fin does look long in this picture.

Wouldn't it be funny if there was really only one fish, but some lived closer to the reef and others lived deeper.

I kinda wish God put an orange dot on one of them so it would be alot easier to distinguish.
