Here is my 72 build thread

Looks good. When you get some filter socks it will help clear up the water. John at FAOIS has the 25 micron socks in 2 sizes for $5 or $10 depending on size. You will love the ER skimmer.

Thats some nice looking rock bro... I love the aquscaping. U aint wasting anytime, huh?? Also, dont mean to burst your bubble but Ive heard alot of bad opinions on florida and haitian liverock. Keep your eye out for pests, flatworms or non reef inverts.

well that looks real nice i do really like your rock work it adds alot of place to put stuff and hiding places looks real great and a very good photo journal as well (ya musta known we all like pics =) ) looks like your getting off to a real good start with all the right equipment
(good luck with the wife lol )

ohhh, so that's why you havn't picked up your skimmer. I got a smaller er now and i'm looking for a larger one for my 120. euro-reef ftw!

lol oreo 0 car 1 :D

thanks Don for the advice, and mliv clear your pms bro, you were full the other day

I added 30lb more LR, I think I am good on the rock now. ~ 110 lbs now.

skimmer is pulling crap every day. socks dirty after 2 days, now have 7 socks so I can go 2 weeks between washes (thanks Stephen)

Dropped in 20 blue leg hermits a week ago. Yesterday, the algae finally arrived on some rock and sand.

Fans are in and on timers with the lights. you can see how I have the fans running in opposite directions to pull cool air in and blow the warm out. Water temp is 81-82 consistently.

Any suggestions for next batch of cleaners? I anticipate my algae to really bloom here soon. Peppermint shrimp (how many) and what else?

thanks for lookin!

Also I have been pulling out the occasional 'slug' or worm when found, and flushing them when I cannot find info on them. Here is one I pulled out this morning. ID?

It doesn't quite look like my bristleworms. The color is right, but mine don't look "slimy". If they are bristleworms, leave them in there.

well, my water has been perfect for weeks, went through the diatom and hair algae thing, then settled down nicely. I still have a lot of microbubbles that I need to resolve, so the pictures are not very good.

But I have some new additions, and everyone is doing well!

Rob, I believe you said you took the bio balls out the sump, are you currently using any socks??
Try and raise your water level in your sump, to where if your power goes out you wont over flow it. That may stop the bubble, well, atleast it did for me...
Good Luck and everythings looking awesum man.

Oh, and hows the blenny working for your algea issue??

here's my sump, running socks that I change out every other day.

blenny has eliminated the hair algae, below are some pics from before he arrived, he's awesome. CUC got half, he got the rest and constantly hunts for more. my 3 year old has cleverly named him.. Benny :D

looks like its doing well, i have a set up almost identical to yours and i love the bow front. the only thing i dont like is the space in the stand for a sump wish mine was bigger. cant wait to see more of what you do with it. good luck and keep the pics coming

I like your open looking aquascape. I am considering redoing mine because I have a rock wall. Good job so far. Also, what is your ultimate goal for the tank? Corals? Fish? Just wondering what you are planning on.

Chris

thanks for the compliments, Im happy with the aquascape. Honestly I just found some great rock and shuffled them around a few times until it 'worked'. Chris, this will be a reef tank, not many more fish added aside from a small tang. I plan on leaving some room on top of the rock for the sps down the road.

Hey Pay, Great work! Just 1 suggestion. I have a 72 bow also. Because of the short side distance front to back it's necessary to have some lighting directly above your overflow. By design your overflow is the place where you have the higest nutrient content. Do yourself a favor and get some black acrylic cut just slightly larger than the shape of the overflow and just lay it on top. This will, A) keep fish out and B) keep the overflow from looking like a jungle. Trust me on this. I put overflow covers on all my clients systems.

Happy Reefing

glad you like that rock i sold you, it looks good , i wouldnt take those fireworms out though there good for it , anyway everything looks great

Wow very nice I like everything .... love the aquascape awesome pictures. And would take the fireworms out they almost kill my hammer coral.
