Just wanted to show off a bit. Amateur photo I know haha. Well amateur setup as well.

All of the hardware has been purchased on RC. Some of the livestock as well.

Maybe 2 months. A lot of it was transferred from my standard 29g setup.

Thank you!

I like that aquascape. Why don't you move some of the corals down from the top ledge to make room for future sps?

Maybe when I get some. That's the eventual zoa garden. Just needs to grow in.

Thanks for sharing. I'm still on the fence about my next move, but if I do end up in an apartment again, I'll be going with the 50 Lagoon.

Your setup looks great, and I saw some of your original setup postings in the tank log section too. Not too many other people have shared their Lagoon 50 setups.

It looks like you get good coverage with the Hydra 52. Any thoughts on other equipment you have, and/or things you'd do differently? I think I saw that you had a Gyre pump in the back center before. Still have it, and those power heads I do see in the pics above? Looks like your sandbed is back stable again, so maybe you got rid of the Gyre?

Not sure about the gyre pump I've never had one. Just 3 loop IC power heads.

I have a protein skimmer that isn't running because of a constant bubble issue that drives me nuts. Only filtration is the filter socks and constant water changes. I'm going to add a filter caddie to have the option of carbon when needed.

I'm also thinking of modifying the rear pump chamber to make a refugium. I would like to have a pod population and some beneficial algae in there.

Dunno why I thought it was your tank lol. It must have been the other person with a Lagoon 50 who shared their build thread :p

Thanks for sharing specifics.

For the refugium idea, that sounds good, but you'd probably want to remove some of those panels at the bottom of the pumps (if I understand the PDF diagrams correctly) since I can imagine detritus blowing under those panels and causing detritus build up if not vacuumed, which would be difficult to do.

I think pods often will live anywhere that there is algae and microfauna for them to snack on, so you might want to check out the Santa Monica algae scrubbers and see if their small one fits in the back (or build one similar to theirs that fits your dimensions).

Thanks I'll check that out! Always looking for a project haha

Nice setup. I am very hesitant on getting GSP even though I like the way it look...i have heard it can take over a tank. Is that why you have it away from everything?

Yes, it's on that island so I can control it. Once it reaches the sand I'll cut it back and give it to someone who wants it. Hasn't made it that far yet, but it has quadrupled in size in a month. I like the way it flows I think it's a must have. It's like perfectly cut grass haha.

I'll keep an eye out. The shrimp is obsessed with my frogspawn. Won't leave it alone but doesn't seem to be bothering it
