Do you have empty shells in the tank because that would help to reduce that behavior. IME a small hermit like the blue and red leg ones will take a cerith shell before an astrea. So having some spare empty cerith shells may help.
I had a scarlet take out my only Astraea. Wore it's shell for about a month. +1 to Donut0079. Might also like a chunk of meat occasionally, depending on the species of crab.
