Hermit Crab pooooooo

This might be a silly question.
My little hermit crabs, when I observe them cleaning and doing what they do. I notice them expelling what seems to be hard white calcium like deposits.
Is that in fact what they are doing?
Would their waist contribute to our sand/substrate?
Inquiring minds want to know? ??

One of my larger ones does that the smaller ones look like they are flicking white like calcium deposits.

For years??!! What hermit crabs do you have that dont change their shells for years?!

Electric blue and Halloween. I was waiting for someone to ask that. I had my Halloween in my tiny tank for ever, and tried to get him to switch shells, just wouldn't.

My electric blues have been with me a few weeks & one already changed shells. They are just little guys though....hopefully they will keep growing bigger and bigger!

Electric blues are large, and more electric than the standard blue legged hermits you find at the stores. Are you referring to the small ones? Yes they change shells allot lol. The electric blue, electric orange, and Halloween are larger and always seem to come in with the same type of shells and as said, don't like to part with them.
