Hermit crabs and frags

Well, I'm pretty well stocked with hermit crabs now and I noticed something...

Ever time they get near any frags, the frag closes up. As you know, the frag takes a while to open back up sometimes. Should I be concerned about them having to open and close so often?

Is this the reason I see people keeping frags on egg crate, put up a few inches off the substrate?

nutting to worry about i have hermits walking over my fleshy corals all the time no issues.. as far as the frag rack that most of the time they do that to grow out frags that are on plugs that dont fit in the rock or so they dont get knocked down

Yeah, nothing to worry about. If you have a hawkfish, it happens much more often. Most corals do well so long as the critters do not end up picking one as a favorite sitting spot.
