Hermit Crabs

I need to get a big clean up crew for my tank...i plan on getting 10 hermit crabs in that order...i was wondering...

i have 3 scarlet hermits that have been in my tank now since the beginning...almost 3 years now...i want to get more scalets but the LFS only has blue leg hermit and i've heard that they are aggresive...so should i pass on the blue legs and wait for scarlets, i dont want to know that one of the blue legs wanted a shell so bad it killed one of my scarlets...

You can always try to get them all the same size if you can. It doesn't really matter if they are red or blue hermits, they will kill each other for thier shells. Your LFS should have empty shells on hand, get a handful of those and put them in your tank to help with the aggression.

its part of nature! if you have hermits they are going to kill something once in a while. mine rarely bother anything. but i have around 10-20 shells in the tank. they still get a snail or another crab. its just part of life for them. the only way for them not to kill something in your tank is to not put them in the tank.
