It has been a long time since I have visited the site or a meeting, but I wanted to drop in and say hello.

Also, after reading Richards post, was gonna say that I was in the same boat as he was. Last weekend I made a decision to either take the tank down or tear it apart and do a deep cleaning. I opted for the deep cleaning. I took all the rock out except one that I wanted to try and save some of the stuff on. All my rock is in the garage in a tank trying to kill all the algae off of it. Took out most of the sand last weekend and the rest this weekend and I am still trying to scrape crap off the back glass. So far everything is going pretty smooth. I still have a few things alive and actually doing well. 4 fish and some hermits and a couple of snails and shrimps. Anyway, Within the next month I am hoping to start adding back in my rockwork and then some new sand. If you came to our house for the meeting we hosted, the tank was in bad shape then. Well it only got worse and I could not seem to get a handle on it. That was why it came to take it down for good or try to get it looking good again. Right now it looks a thousand times better! Thoughts, questions, concerns, and opinions welcome for insight on what to expect when I start putting it back together.

I think we all kind of get to that point at some time or another. A couple of months ago we were in the same boat, but we decided to kind of downsize just a bit and move the tank to a different room.

As far as putting your tank back together I have a couple of things that I personally like to do. I always make sure that there is good water flow going through my rock work and the entire tank in general. Also make sure you have a good clean up crew. I was just looking at our tank today and realized it is time to get some more snails, they just seem to disappear sometimes. ;) Also, watch how much you are feeding your fish and make sure they are eating it all and it just doesn't settle on the bottom.

Hopefully some other people will chime in soon and give you some more ideas. Hope to see you all soon!

I agree with katie and willie and would suggest maybe a couple of urchins. Maybe a haloween and a long spine or a tuxedo.

Also it is GREAT to hear from you guys. I have been playing hookie from the shop a ton this summer. Hope all is well Scott and family.

I would keep the glass clean as much as you can so the clean up crew will stay on the rockwork and clean! If the glass is dirty then that takes away time they could be cleaning the rock!
