As always thanks upfront for the responces.

I got the 9010 in great shape and set it up per instruction in my sump.
My questions are

1. does this foam level look good or is it too low. i have not been able to run the water level any higher. This is a photo of the skimmer after 24 hours of run time.

2. should the o-zone hole be left open or closed while running the skimmer?

Last one whats the hole in the back of the skimmer for and can i plug it or will it effect skimmer performence?

Thanks for the feed back.

Everything looks correct, the big nipple is actually the air intake, the small one is for ozone and it should not be capped as it also takes in air if no ozone is attached.

The outlet hole in the back is difficult to explain. If you can imagine most skimmers use an oring or seal of some sort, we use water as our seal, the weight of the water forces the air up and out through the cup and that water is pumped up in there and flows out. When used in sump it is technically possible to cap that hole but it is not necessary. In tank the hole must be unobstructed or the cup will fill with water.

Great so the water level in the cup seems right?
I will give it a day or two to break in and start producing some skimate.

Thanks for your help Roger.

It can take a few days to start skimming and doesn't really hit its stride for a week or two, that is when they are really working well and all the break in is finished.

All right how about a fourth question. there is a lot of micro bubbles escaping from the bottom of the skimmer, what would cause this? Do you think the pump is not seated into the skimmer properly?

That is fairly normal on a new skimmer, give it sometime. Be sure the bottom lid is completely closed and double check that the pump is in all the way.

Well what a difference a night makes. The foam prodution has really developed overnight.

I will give another day or two to see if the micro bubbles go away. if not i will double check the bottom plate and resit the pump.

thanks Roger for all the great service.
