Hello!
My current settup is doing just fine, but I'm worried it isn't ideal. My livestock is entirely LPS, how sensitive are they really? Would it be worth it to have a stand and sump and overflow built? Would it just be making it easier for me or would it really benefit my tank? Should I have the 75 drilled? Since I would have to empty it out in order to move it anyway? I'd *love* for maintenance to be as close to automated as possible to keep everything as level as possible (also because I work long hours and I'm lazy).

If the benefits of a new stand/sump/overflow/etc. is worth the $ and time, I'd really appreciate some suggestions for local businesses. Oh, and, since I would basically be re-building my system, I'll totally start a build thread with bunches and bunches of pictures (sufficient bribery for good advice, right?)

:D

It might be helpful if you were to describe your current set up. With the information provided it is hard to make a comparison.

I was hoping to keep it short with just a sort of generalized answer, but here is everything I have. The blue is what is currently running.

Like I said, everything is doing fine. I'm not the greatest at topping off every day. I do 10~12 gal water change every week to keep algae in check. And I just don't know if its worth it to re-build it all.

Having a sump w/ a baffle allows you to have a skimmer section that is always at a constant level. This allows your skimmer to be tuned and run at a high efficiency. This will be your greatest immediate advantage IMO. You can start looking at new skimmers too! I would start there.

Sumps are great for all the other kinds of equipment out there and it makes your setup look a lot cleaner. Hide the ugly stuff. Eventually the ugly stuff will become the cool stuff though.

As for stability and how hardy are the corals, you can continue to keep your corals alive and they will grow and you can love your tank for years. The more you keep your levels constant the more your corals will grow and the more color you'll get out of them. It's like feeding a blue iguana pellet food. It'll live and grow and you'll have a pet iguana that's green and alive but if you feed it fresh foods and berries for a year all of a sudden you'll realize why they call it a blue iguana. Odd analogy.
