Hi all, I am new to this website and very new to the hobby.
I live in panama city, fl. At this moment I have a 20 gallon Hexogon tank with nothing but water and sand. After I started the setup I then made the decision to relocate to another apartment; so I kinda put everything on hold til after the move. I have been looking around on here and have seen some really gorgeous setups. I can't wait till I get mine up and going. Any advise for the newby? What Websites are reputable for buying items such as lights, rock and corals? I am a single Mom, so I am always looking for a bargin.
Looking forward to chatting with ya'll

Welcome! On a side note... I was just in Panama City for a weeks vacation last week! I stayed at the Wyndam on Front Beach rd.

Some will say you should really start with a little bigger tank because with smaller water volume the problems escalate quickly.

My advice is go REALLY slow, even though you chop at the bits to get it going. Read all you can on this forum and you will be fine.

I really like ordering from Amazon and also from http://www.drsfostersmith.com/ but to each is own. Really depends on what you are ordering.

No question is a dumb question so ask and read away!

Welcome to Reef Central. You have come to the right place.
The best advice I can give is to go slow, and research anything and everything before you purchase anything.

Do you plan to run a sump or go sumpless?

Oh... have you seen the 25,000 gallon tank at Saltwater Grill?? I ate there just to see the TANK!!! AMMMMMAZING!

The best advice I could give is to acquire equipment that is more than needed for the current notion of what you want.

In better words, get the best lights, skimmer, etc. that you can afford the first time. You may be thinking of fish and softies and such but a year from now you may decide you want LPS, SPS. That means purchasing different lights and such.

It happened to me. In the beginning I was focused on the fish and the corals were to be for background interest. Just a splash of color here and there. Now I'm the opposite. The corals have my attention and the fish are for color and movement. Now I'm looking at buying lights. again. If I had just bought the better lights the first time.......:worried2:

I hope this helps.
