Hello to all.
I have kept salt water tanks in the past, but never had them going for very long periods of time due to moving to different apartment and sometimes financial reasons with having three kids.
Now it has been a few years since I have done any real aquarium keeping. I do have a 55 set up now which has been neglected for the past almost three years. I have just started over the past few months to take care of it and bring it back to life. Cleaning it up and water changes. Going well so far.
I have always wanted to have what I call a "show" tank and this time Im going to make it happen. It may happen slower than my wife would like but it will eventually will.
You see, I have bought the brand new tank and stand already (it was on sale and could not pass it up) and it is sitting in my dining room on the adjacent wall from my 55 gal tank.
that's why my wife wants it set up already she doesn't want it sitting there forever just taking up space.
I am planing to get new flooring done before setting up the new tank because ti is going to be replacing the 55 and its on carpet.
I'm thinking about going with hardwood for the floor. so that needs to be done first. Hopefully in the next few weeks.
The tank I bought is an Oceanic 90 tech tank with the stainless stand. I do have a few pieces of equipment I will be using from the 55.
I plan on having my sump in the basement. this way I can use a bigger sump. Was thinking about a 55, will that work? also I am needing a suggestion on a submersible return pump. There will be about 10 feet of head to the returns. I will also have at least 2 powerheads. I was thinking of getting the Hydor Koralia 3 or 4s. I need some input on that choice as well.
Will a oceanic plus model 6 protein skimmer work for this 90 I have a ehiem 1250 to run it. Also I know nothing about how to run or tune it. I did use it on one of my tanks at some point and it did work but would like to know more about it from someone who owns or owed one.
Im sure I will have a million questions. thanks in advance!
ps..I will try and get some pics up of my 55 and the new tank.
