Hi Fin Red Banded Goby compatibility

Hi everyone. I'm new to the saltwater reef hobby. I have a 29 gallon Biocube set up with about 40 lbs of live rock in the tank, and the bio balls have been replaced with additional live rock for filtering. Stock lighting for another couple of weeks until my new bluefish retro LED system comes in! Currently, I have paired Hi Fin Red Banded Gobies and a pistol shrimp they are partnered with. I've heard that Hi Fin Red Banded Gobies are tolerable of other gobies. I wouldn't mind getting another goby, if possible. Anyone know which other gobies they are compatible with in a small reef setting? I'm also presuming they are not compatible with a blue spotted jawfish in such a small tank, does anyone have a different opinion on that as well?

any type of dartfish would do, or maybe a clown goby. blue jawfish come from temperate reefs, so it is better to have them in their own special aquarium.

have you ever considered a blenny? tailspot blennies perch on the rock and do not get in the way of your gobies

Depends. For the time I had my tailspot, he stayed high up on the rocks, far away from my goby. No aggression at all.

You're on the borderline of having one as they say 30gal minimum but I think you would be fine to get a Golden Midas Blenny. Great fish and beautiful yellow, it gets to 6" at full grown but has a min tank of 30gal. They will find a hole in LR and use that as their sleeping and resting place. They swim mostly in the middle water column and are out quite often. Then they'll back into their hole and watch what's going on. They'll also eat anything you offer them to eat. They are not aggressive at all even towards my Hector's goby, it's a great all around fish and get's along with all other tankmates.

Check them out and see what you think.

The blue spotted jawfish won't be compatible with the size of your tank. They need quite a bit of space and especially tank height.
They are also notorious jumpers, so without a tight cover you have a 99% likelihood that he will end up on the floor while looking for moor roomy accommodations.

Firefish may work in a tank that size, but may be too skittish. I would go with a calmer, more open water fish.
