I don't want to give the impression I'm not happy with the RKE, far from it. Just commenting on the "form" IMHO 
It definitely has a certain feel to it about that to me is "1st gen" but will get better with time.
I am going to inquire about the HeadUnit LCD and buttons. I can deal with the buttons, but the LCD is difficult to work with unless I tilt it away from me.

The lines on your LCD are from your contrast being set too high. Just turn it down and they'll go away. Mine was the same way when I first got it.
And I agree the plastic feels a bit flimsy... I was kind of surprised, too, but I don't expect it to be an issue. Unlike my BlackBerry, I don't carry my RKE with me everyday in my pocket.

Contrast Fixed the Lines.
Got the RKE up and running.
Working on a Sig Generator as well to feed from the RSS stuff.
its not very useful yet, but was a fun side project to get going. Its pulling the data from the RSS feed on my RKE, and overlaying an image I have saved. Need to work on it quite a bit still.
Also, when using a Float switch to do ATO, how do you guys have it configured?
I've got a Maxijet I was wanting to use when the switch is closed to add topoff water. But I don't think its a wise idea to just let it fill until the switch opens again. I was thinking is it possible to say, if the switch is closed, fire the maxijet for 10 seconds. and do this until the switch hits open, or if after say 3, 10 second bursts flag an alarm. and stop activating the Maxijet.
I'll prob ask this on DA's forums, but thought I'd ask here anyways.

Glad the contrast fixed your lines. Mine came in the same way, so I knew what you were talking about.
I'm fairly certain there's a way with alarms and timers to do what you're thinking on your ATO, because I'm wanting to do the exact same thing (my Aquatronica had that feature built in), I've just not had time to sit down and wrap my brain around it because my brain is focused on the end of the semester and trying to get this job!
I also want something that will shut my ATO off if it turns on for more than 4 minutes. This was another feature of my Aquatronica that I miss... it saved my rear a couple of times from floods!
I'll keep an eye out for your post in the DA forum and tag along.

I use 3 float switchs. 2 inline with eachother at alternate heights:
1) Primary level for triggering ATO in sump
2) Is an inch higher and inline to the 1st switch so that if the switch 1 fails and ATO continues, the circuit is broken. In Sump.
3) FLoat switch in ATO resovoir that is OPEN. When closed, it shuts down the power to the pump. All of this is handled vi SWA for the sump and SWB for the ATO resovoir.
