Hey, I thought I'd stop in and introduce myself. My name is Rena, I live in Highland IL. I'm a single mom with three kids. mostly grown now(Yippe) more money for fish. I work at a local factory here in Highland. I also work as a clerk at an area gas station. And on weekends, when I have a chance and they need extra help, I help my two friends with a grocery delivery business. We deliver grocery orders down to the river for the barges as they come thur. But as the kids grow and get more self reliant I can ease off some of those hours and spend more time and attention to my first passion. I've loved fish ever since I was a teenager. I was an Air Force Brat. and grew up all over the place, But when I was 12 my father retired in the Phillippines and sort of became a missionary. So I spent a lot of time island hopping visiting different villages. There was one place that I think was the hook for me. Ever since then I have loved fish, the ocean and corals. and I had always wanted my piece of it right with me. If I remember the name right, we called it 1000 island. (Hopefully you all aren't thinking of that salad dressing)
There was a place right off the island where they would snorkle down every sunday morn for mass. They actually had a statue of the Virgin Mary and Jesus on the cross on the bottom of this lagoon. Lots of fish, corals it was probly the most magnificent site I had even seen in my life. I don't know why they put it there, but that is where they had mass.
But any way I'm a true addict! Just never had the time to devote, and learn what I needed to know. And along the way I trusted the wrong people. I thought that they were there to actully help customers. Not figure out how they could get me to finance thier next trip to Europe. Well I hope you fine folk here will bless me with your wisdom and lead me down the right path. Currently I have a 75 gal salt water that is in desprate need of some good help. Mean while I started about 3 other tanks to cure about 150lbs of rock and start my sand base(about 150 lbs) for when I finally got to start my 180 which now I can't do. but I'm not discouaged I will find a way. even if I need to use my bathtub. LOL
Well I look forward to meeting all of you and possible building some rewarding friendships
Rena

I'm sure you will find the help and knowlegde that you seek in here. I have a saying I like to use and I think all of us here have said it a few times to each other: "There is no stupid or dumb question". So please feel free to fire them off. We are all happy to answer to our best. I have found that while we may not all agree on some issues, we still strive for the same out come and offer our opinons on how to get there. Good luck and we wish you the best at your new hobby! :D

Welcome aboard. I'm envious of ur travels in the Islands. Living in S. Il and loving the islands and snorkeling makes for some long times between vacations.

Welcome! I make a trip to Highland at least once a week to pick up my son so if you ever need any help. Drop me a line!

Tom
