so im kinda new to saltwater and im thrilled to find a group of people from my area on here to converse with. so weve got a 14 gallon bio cube and are going to try out a small reef tank, living in an apartment has its downsides. any suggestions? im still a little illiterate when it comes to the terminology so be gentle with me guys. im not sure what it means but i think i want to do alot of lps in our cube. have any of you ever used black live sand? they have it in bags at aquatic life in stuart.

Your best bet is to do a ton of reading on here. There are threads at the top of the page in the New to the Hobby section.

As far as black sand goes, it's fine, it's a matter of personal preference. Search "Black Sand" on the forum and you'll find a bunch of threads with pictures to see how the tank looks fully stocked with the black sand.

If you have any questions at all along the way feel free to shoot me a PM. A great place to ask questions for a quick response is on the "New to the Hobby" thread. When I started my first saltwater tank a few years ago, Reef Central was a great place for information and answers to all my questions.

Hope this helps and welcome to Reef Central.

We have a meeting coming up on March 6 at Aquatic Life. Hope to see you there!

what time do the meetings usually start? are they weekly, monthly?

The meetings haven't happened in awhile but interest is definitely picking up. Check the other post for all the info. The next meeting is March 6th at 6pm in Stuart.
