Tylerman,

Rich Russel (the club secretary) actually handles all the membership information. Membership fees run on the calendar year (Jan - Dec). I would skip your membership for this year, and purchase membership for next calendar year.

I know of only one member in Dixon - and that is Pam (budgetyourself). She's a really nice person and very friendly. She doesn't post online often, but she does frequent this board. However, in Davis, there are quite a few members including Arlan (undergrad), Rian (reefrian), Matt (Wombat2), Mike (WeeReef Master), Herman (FunGuy), Tristan (PePePrawnKing?), Kim (Miracle35), and me. I am sure I am forgetting other people in Davis.

BTW - when you post, don't be surprise if you get views but no response. Just be patience and some will respond.

Also - welcome.

Glad to see you are interested in the club. You can find out the details about joining id you would like to come to the meetings. You don't have to be a member to attend. Since the membership is for a calendar year, you may want to wait until Jan but Rich can probably pro-rate your membership if you want to start in 2006.

It's a very informal group, we have a lot of different backgrounds and levels of experience. Most of us check in on the Reef Central forums fairly often but it's not like an instant messaging thing where we sit and chat. There is a lot to learn from the group and it is really nice to be able to gain from the experience of the members.

You may also want to check the BAR (Bay Area Reefers) club forum for folks in Dixon. We have members that are active in both clubs.

Yes, because our club membership runs on a calendar year, not by Join date.

So if you pay the 25 now, you have to pay another 25 in January.

Unless you PM russel and ask if they give you a card for the rest of the year since its only a month.... It doesnt hurt to ask.

And welcome....

Hey Tylerman, welcome to the hobby.

As a new hobbyist, I suggest you take things slowly. Tank wise and forum wise :) There's a lot to learn and a lot of people to help.

Tylerman

Anyone can attend the meetings. You don't have to be a member. There are a few things that are limited to members. And, membership person (secretary) will usually make memberships this late in the year good for the rest of the year and all of the next. But, that's up to them.

EDIT

Oh, and where are my manners. I'm definately a nerd. Welcome aboard, I hope.

amother question. I saw on your website that it says $25 for family memberships. Does this mean my parents can come to the meetings too or do they have to pay as well?

sorry but yet again...another question. If the next meeting is on the 15th,why does your site say 3rd friday of every month?

Our next meeting is the 17th. Always the 3rd Friday.
Your parents are welcome at the meeting, anyone can come to the meetings without any charge.

Tylerman -

You can bring your parents to the meeting. If you want, you can sign up for the family membership. Family membership only gets one vote during election.

Last - the meeting is on the 3rd Friday of every month. That would make it Nov 17th. You might want to come a little early (maybe 30 minutes) so that you can order pizza. Mention that you are with MARS and you will get 10% off your Pizza order.

BTW - out of curiousity - how old are you?
