Hi

Can you people EVER just Welcome new members to your club without beeing such (you know the word). Not everone is soo perfect and educated like some of you pretend to be. Exactly why I will never join your club. No Respect

Wow...Where did that come from....A little less caffeine Gorilla :)
I would like to join as well and was hoping maybe I could pay a prorate for this year and next on the 17th. If the person who is in charge sees this please let me know. The secretary??
Thanks,
Paul

P.s I am 30 have 3 kids am a sagitarius and like long walks on the reef. ( Hope that qualifies me :) )

Sorry, 2 kid maximum. ;)

If you don't get an answer from Rich beforehand, you are still welcome to attend the meetings, you don't have to be a member to enjoy the speakers and the knowledge of the members.

I learned something a while ago in an course I was taking not too long ago......the typed word is very difficult to convey your thoughts and intentions, as we communicate in person....some 90% or more is done through tone of voice, cadence, and physical body language. More often than not, people are misunderstood when they type something as if they were to speak it and things must be infered and assumed......then people are insulted or misunderstand and problems arise......hence my usually longwinded replies, background explanations and metaphors that I use....

Perhaps, when you see people being "you know whats".....I see a friendly, light hearted atmosphere where people are trying to have fun in the common interest, increase membership and participation........which is why I try to post and be as active as I can here, because I don't make meetings or events....this is how I contribute!!!

I have to reread things a couple of times sometimes to empathise with people and try to see where they are comming from......I might suggest you do the same, and you won't see as many "haters" as you think........

Too bad you feel that way:sad1:

Damn. Well, hopefully we can all get over this loss.

Sorry we didn't roll out a red carpet. You seem to think you're entitled to one.

Well put by a fellow long winder. This media contributes to miscommunication. I think it is a good idea to always confirm my interpretation, especially when it doesn't agree with the rest of the thread.

It seems like everyone was being friendly. Perhaps Gorilla Reefer was being sarcastic and his intent was to point that out. Sarcasm doesn't work well here.

Tylerman

I'd guess the average age of our club members is around 30 to 35. We have well over 100 members so you won't be the only teenager but there aren't a lot. I noticed that one of the others brings his parents pretty regularly. Larry Robison and I went to his house to check out his tank. Very nice. Unfortunately, I'm terrible with names.

Minh likes to bring his family to the meetings. My quess is he was curious if another family unit would be attending.

Tylerman -

Just curious because all your questions indicate that you're pretty young. I thought maybe you were looking for a ride to the meeting. Anyway - the meeting will be about 45 minutes drive from Dixon (depending on traffic). If your parents aren't up to driving you all the way - maybe you can catch a ride with someone in Davis.

Anyway - no prejudice against you because of your age. I know some teenagers who are much more mature than some adults. :D BTW - I admire your enthusiasm at such a young age!

Minh

I think the more fishnerds the better!!!

SPEAK for yourself..... I am cool :)

As Brian said, we have more than 100 members. Only a small percentage post here regularly.

As far as I know, there are usually 2-4 kids your age at the meetings.

sorry... another question. Are the frag swaps the only times when members purchase other members corals err frags? Becuse I have decided to go reef and I just got a new bulb!

Nope, people sell stuff on here all the time, people set up trades also. Just gotta watch the board and see who is selling what.

finally some more young people are joining up! i've just turned 20 (though mentally i must say i'm more like 12! :p ) for a while i was the youngest member (well the youngest member that did not have a parent as a member as well as there are some kids that come with their parents. but in my case my mom does like the hobby, and wants me to get rid of my tanks.... :(

i know there is one other teenage boy in the club and a girl about my age, but still, i think there's too many old farts in the club (joking, no offence.)

This club is great and lots of fun, the raffle is always worth entering and the cost of the raffle tickets goes twords the club events and speakers.

i have yet to attend a swap, maybe we can attend the next one together and both be the newbies.

you live in dixion right? (ugg,, i can't go back to check the posts or i'll lose what i wrote) where is that exactly? sounds like its further than Davis and and i know what is kind of far from sacramento.

well any way, i hope to see you at the meeting and if you ever decide to go reef let me know and i will give you a few starter shrooms, kenya trees or palythoas for free. i am working on a mushroom coral collection and they are growing rapidly so i almost always have a few extras, and i am more than willing to spare a few freebies to the newbies to get them started :)

but be warned, this hobby is truly addictive!!!

arent we all about 12 when we walk into LFS looking for new stuff. :) Welcome Tylerman ! I just joined the club last night and was at my irst meeting last night as wel. Very interesting stuff, and lots of goodies !
